Sestriere is located in Northwest Italy along the French – Italian border and is about 90 miles from Turin. The resort’s roots go back to the 1930’s when it began its history as one of Italy’s predominant ski areas. Sestriere has hosted many Olympic events.
The resort is best suited for intermediate skiers. Advanced skiers will want to ski off-piste or take advantage of heli skiing options. Sestriere is included on the “Milky Way” ski pass that includes the five Italian ski area of Claviere, Sansicario, Sauz d’Oulx , Cesana and the French resort of Montgenevre.
Sestriere is a purpose built resort and does not have the “old world charm” like many alpine ski areas. However, there are plenty lodging options. Likewise, the village has plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and is known for a vibrant nightlife.
