Lake Placid was the home to both the 1932 and 1980 winter Olympics. The resort is located less than five hours from New York City and draws skiers from all over the world. It is one of the few resorts where you can observe bob sledding, luge and ski jumping.
The mountain has terrain that is appropriate for skiers of any ability. However with 3,400 ft of vertical drop, Whiteface Mountain is known for its steep long runs.
