Chamonix is the oldest ski resort in France and considered a “bucket list” destination by most avid skiers. As the host of the 1924 Winter Olympics, the resort “has it all”.
The resort has five ski areas and has appropriate terrain for skiers of all abilities. Beginners will find great terrain in the areas of Les Houches, Le Tour and La Flegere. Intermediate and advanced skiers will enjoy the steep runs of Les Grandes Montets and skiing the Vallee Blanche is a must.
Lodging is available in Chamonix or at many of the nearby villages. The mountain does not have any ski in ski out properties, thus you will have to rely on public transportation to get to the ski area.
Chamonix invented après ski, thus there are many restaurants, pubs, shops and casinos to choose from.
